What is the best airsoft gun?
Every new airsoft player ask, "What is the best airsoft gun?" The answer depends on what you want to do with your airsoft gun. First, you need to decide what catagory best describes you:
1. Play airsoft 2. Collect airsoft guns There are several different types of airsoft guns. Some of these airsoft guns are great for collecting, but less than ideal in a game -- but you can still get hits with them. Here is a list of the different types of guns roughly sorted by price. Each page contains a brief overview of the different types of guns.
- Spring Airsoft Pistols a.k.a. "Springers" £20-£50
"Springers" are the first airsoft gun for many people. For airsoft games they make a good sidearm, but only if rarely used.
- Gas-powered airsoft guns £70+
Gas airsoft guns are a little more expensive than "springers." For the extra cost you get a sem-automatic or even fully automatic airsoft gun. Makes a great sidearm, but due to limited capacity and distance less than ideal as a primary arm during an airsoft game.
- Spring Airsoft Shotguns £175-£275
Spring airsoft shotguns offer more range than spring pistols. They are usable in airsoft games as a primary airsoft gun. Not recommended as a first airsoft gun.
- Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs) £150-£400 (before upgrades)
The most common airsoft gun used by airsoft players is the automatic electric gun, known as the AEG for short. This is what you want if to play airsoft games with.
- Airsoft Sniper Rifles £350-£1000+
Most sniper rifles need major upgrades out of the box to become effective airsoft game guns. Not recommended for new players
